Rallying
The club organised two major night rallies each year until the late 1970’s, the Harold Sharp and the Chico, which
formed part of the National Motoring News Championship, and the Grasshopper stage rally which was part of the regional championship.
With the reduction of road rallying in the South East, the Club now organises only a series of scatter rallies which form one of the
club championships. We do however have a strong section of members who participate in road and stage rallies at all levels to
international status in modern, classic and historic cars.
Current members compete in a wide variety of events. Several members compete in British championships Due to the close proximity
of the channel crossings Belgian rallying is a favourite with club members spectating and competing. The Montberg Rallysprint,
Ypres and Rally of Flanders are well supported with several club members either driving or co-driving. The club also has members
competing in local stage rallies, endurance rallies including the Lombard rally, historic rallying including the rally of the tests.
With many experienced competitors and organisers, the Club also assists in the running of other club’s events.
